Our principles

Equality, mutual respect, and trus

Equality, mutual respect, and trust are essential principles for the Oslo Center, and the basis for our partnerships. We are attentive and always listen to diverse perspectives in our collaborations.

In support of SDG 17, the Oslo Center’s focuses on partnerships to “Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize global partnership for sustainable development,” to contribute to the 2030 Global Agenda.

Club de Madrid

The Club de Madrid is an independent non-profit organization that works to strengthen democratic leadership, governance, and institutional capacity in the international community. Through programs, policy dialogues, and partnerships, Club de Madrid aims to promote positive change both socially and politically.

European Partnership for
Democracy (EPD)

The European Partnership for Democracy (EPD) is a not-for-profit organization that brings together a unique and vast network of 18 organizations specialized in the different parts of a democratic system. With headquarters in Brussels, EPD works inside and outside Europe. They acknowledge democracy as a shared universal ambition and believe that the challenges and opportunities for democracy have a global extent.

Norwegian Forum for
Development and Environment
(ForUM)

The Norwegian Forum for Development and Environment (ForUM) is a network of 50 Norwegian organizations within development, environment, peace, and human rights. ForUM works as a solution-oriented network and a knowledge-hub that contributes to policymaking at a national and international level.

Open Government Partnership (OGP)

Open Government Partnership (OGP) is a multilateral initiative that creates a channel for civil society organizations, and governments at both national and local levels to join forces to strengthen the relationship between citizens and governments. OGP has established a platform where, currently, 78 countries and 76 local communities are collaborating with thousands of civil society organizations.

Oslo Freedom Forum

The Oslo Freedom Forum is a global conference series organized by the Human Rights Foundation (HRF) that is annually held in Oslo. The prime objective of the forum is to unite notable and inspiring human rights advocates, journalists, artists, tech entrepreneurs, and world leaders to collectively bring the issues of human rights and freedom on the agenda. Together, they create a platform where meaningful and influential ideas, thoughts, and stories are safely shared for future actions to take.

Political Party Peer (PPPeer)
Network

The Political Party Peer (PPPeer) Network was established as a network of like-minded organizations in political party support. Inside this network, a core group of organizations working with democracy assistance volunteer to act as informal guardians, leading the further development of the community. The Oslo Center is the current chair of the core group as of 2021.
